KEYS PIANO NOTES:

This small group of pieces was put together with a mind towards group lessons and group playing. Each song can be learned one hand at a time and then played four hands and then eventually played as a solo by one player. So the songs can be placed on a graduated course of study and can be used in any order you want to work it.

The main value here is that KEYS piano students have a way to play together by developing a common repertoire. In this way, students from different teachers can meet up at a FTC piano workshop and have some pieces to play together.

Ideally every student can play either hand and therefore can switch hands when playing with another player.

The Pachelbel Canon was left wide open of melody so that it can be used to encourage improvisation in the key of D.

Serenade to a Cuckoo is a vehicle for jazz improvisation. The relevant F blues scale is written out on the bottom of the page.

Hallelujah and Can’t Help Falling in Love are popular classics that students tend to like a lot.
