Sunday, April 24, 2016, 4:00 pm, Ridgefield, CT - Rob Silvan - Gina Wilson, and Friends...     SOLD OUT !!

Rob Silvan, KEYS Founder and Executive Director, and Gina Wilson, KEYS Board Chair, will combine their talents to present a two-piano concert on Sunday, April 24th.  Two pianos, twice the fun!

Rob and Gina will play jazz for two pianos including compositions by Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, and the great jazz saxophonist, Gerry Mulligan.  Members of the Gerry and Franca Mulligan Foundation will be on hand to celebrate KEYS. Rob and Gina will be joined by Melissa Westgate on cello, John Ragusa on flute, KEYS musicians, and our host and talented vocalist, Daniela Sikora.

The concert is in a private home in Ridgefield, so seating is limited and pre-registration is required.  There is no admission fee.  Donations to KEYS are encouraged!  Street address and other details will be provided to registered guests.  A reception will follow the performance.  To register or for more information, please email Laurie Bradbury: aed@keysmusic.org.  Concert is SOLD OUT but we will take names for a waiting list.

Saturday, April 23, 2016, 4:00 pm, Darien, CT - KEYS String Quartet

The KEYS string quartet consists of violinists, Edita Orlinyte, Deborah Graser, violist Carrie Mascaro and cellist Cheryl Labrecque. All four are professional string players and educators in Fairfield County. They formed the group because of their work with KEYS as teachers and volunteers.Edita was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. She was soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and has concertized throughout Europe. Presently she is Assistant Concertmaster of the Greenwich Symphony.
Deborah was the orchestra director at Fairfield High School for 20 years. She is a member of the 1st violin section of the Greenwich Symphony.
Carrie is one of the conductors with the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra and is a freelance violist and member of the Norwalk Symphony.
Cheryl is a free-lance cellist performing with the Greenwich, Bridgeport and Ridgefield Symphonies.  She is a string teacher in Fairfield.

“LET THE RIVER RUN,” the big beautiful benefit concert, based on a dream come true, will happen on the night of December 5 at Voices Café, the ongoing music series at The Unitarian Church in Westport. The Suzanne Sheridan Band includes Bob Cooper on keyboards, Marshal Rosenberg on percussion, and Joe Meo on sax and clarinet. Joined by Rob Silvan and The Talmadge Hill Choir they will all be performing, among others, the music of Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen.

Saturday, November 21, 2015, 7:30 pm, Darien, CT - Jake Alrich, Baritone

Beautiful classical and popular songs performed by Jake Alrich.  Jake Alrich has sung in recital halls, on musical theater stages, and in opera houses throughout the New York City area, as well as across the United States and Europe. Jake spent two years singing opera and art song at the Aspen Opera Theater Center, and also appeared as Benoit/Alcindoro in La Bohéme (Castres, France). Favorite musical theater roles include Joe in The Most Happy Fella, Billy in Carousel, and Carl-Magnus in A little Night Music. Jake is a graduate of the music and theater departments at Northwestern University. He currently studies voice with Mahon Bishop.

Jake spent 12 years teaching music and theater in the NYC public schools before coming to New Canaan Country School, where he chairs the Performing Arts department chair in addition to leading choral ensembles and directing theater. Jake is a proud member of the University Glee Club of New York City.

“Rio Bound” features Maria Tiscia (vocals), David Oliver (piano), Geoff Morrow (bass), and Joey Bracchitta (drums).  Rio Band has opened for Diane Reeves in Stamford CT on the big stage at Alive at Five’s “Jazz up July”.  They will be performing selections from Sergio Mendes & Brazil ’66 (i.e. “The Look of Love”, “Mas Que Nada”, etc.) along with wonderful songs from such gifted Brazilian composers as: Antonio Carlos Jobim (The Girl from Ipanema), Ivan Lins, Dori Cayammi, and Marcos Valle.  This Brazilian band is delightfully joyful!

Sunday, September 20, 2015, 3:00 pm, Southport, CT - Guastavino Trio and Soprano Tobé Malawista

The Guastavino Trio (named after the late Argentine composer Carlos Guastavinoconsists of Jane Shelly on flute, Tom Hudson on cello, Sara Kohane on piano. They are joined in this concert by Soprano Tobé Malawista.  

The Guastavino Trio was formed in 2006 and has performed throughout Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, notably performing in concert series at the First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan, Merkin Hall in NYC, The Fairfield Theater,  Fairfield, CT, St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Rocky Hill, CT, and The Hagaman Public Library in East Haven, CT.  In January 2012, they performed at the American Church in Paris, France and in September of 2013, they performed at Fresno Pacific University and in San Francisco.  In this concert, they will perform works by Haydn, Cantaloube,  Martinu,  Astor Piazzolla and Carlos Guastavino,  among others.

Come enjoy an evening of jazz music and song!  Here's a chance to support KEYS by attending this not-to-be-missed performance of Matthew DeTroy on piano, with Rich Zurkowski on bass, Hans Broecking on drums and Dave Savitsky on alto sax.  The group has been performing together for over two years on Monday nights at Fat Cat Pie in Norwalk playing jazz tunes from the giants of jazz.  Mingus, Monk, Miles, Duke, to name a few.  Also performing are KEYS students from the Bassick High School Jazz Band.  All proceeds benefit the KEYS music programs in Bridgeport, CT.

Through this event, SpreadMusicNow and Band Together will provide all funds raised with an additional matching grant to a coalition of music education nonprofits including BackCountry Jazz, Charter Oak Cultural Center, Creative Connections, Hartford Performs, INTAKE Music, KEYS, Litchfield Jazz Camp, Little Kids Rock, Music Haven, Neighborhood Studios, PROJECT MUSIC, Westport Arts Center and WPKN.

Sunday, March 29, 2015, 4 PM, Darien, CT - Gunnar and Suzanne Sahlin in concert
The program consists of a great variety of pieces for viola and cello: as old as that of Mozart, and as new as from last year, in fact, a World Premier.  Three of the composers are alive today. Two are women, three are American, one is Australian and one Polish.  The shortest work is less than three minutes long, and two works are about fifteen minutes.  
Suzanne is Principal Violist of the Ridgefield Symphony, and Norwalk Symphony, where she has performed as soloist. Suzanne has studied with Albert Markov, Jesse Levine and Robert Glazer, and two years with the Manhattan String Quartet at Music Mountain.  
 In 2003, Gunnar became Principal Cellist of Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and was Assistant Principal of Ridgefield Symphony 2009 -2013.   Gunnar teaches privately in their home in Stamford.  He is the artistic director and conductor of the Fairfield County Symphony Society, which is open to all music lovers.

K.E.Y.S. will be presenting a musical afternoon of chamber music in combinations of piano, violin, viola and cello, featuring the talents of Madeleine Bouissou, Corinne Metter, Amy Selig, and Gina Wilson.  Gina is a member of the KEYS Board of Directors. Corinne and Amy are teachers in the KEYS music program. Madeleine is an alumnus of the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra, currently enrolled at the Juilliard School.

On Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, K.E.Y.S. will be presenting “Rio Bound” at the Talmadge Hill Church in Darien CT as part of their concert fundraising series.  “Rio Bound” features Maria Tiscia (vocals), David Oliver (piano), Geoff Morrow (bass), and Joey Bracchitta (drums).  Last summer this band opened for Diane Reeves in Stamford CT on the big stage at Alive at Five’s “Jazz up July”.  They will be performing selections from Sergio Mendes & Brazil ’66 (i.e. “The Look of Love”, “Mas Que Nada”, etc.) along with wonderful songs from such gifted Brazilian composers as: Antonio Carlos Jobim (The Girl from Ipanema), Ivan Lins, Dori Cayammi, and Marcos Valle. The Ridgefield Chorale (www.ridgefieldchorale.org) will present its annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 14 at 4 pm at Jesse Lee Memorial Methodist Church, 207 Main Street, Ridgefield.  Suggested donation of $15/adults and $10/seniors and students.  All proceeds will benefit KEYS.  There will also be a collection of musical instruments in good condition.  The concert is sponsored by Allison and Jon Stockel, and Reynolds & Rowella, LLP.

Saturday, December 13, 2014, 5-6 PM - KEYS Holiday Concert

The KEYS holiday concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2014.  Scheduled performers are the KEYS Orchestra, KEYS Band, groups of KEYS student performers, and guest performances by the Lauralton Hall Advanced Vocal Ensemble, and Klein “After School at the Klein” Performing Arts Program.

Location:  United Congregational Church (UCC), 877 Park Avenue, Bridgeport.  The church is at the corner of Park Avenue and State Street.  The entrance to the enclosed parking area is on State Street. Overflow parking is available at the YMCA, 850 Park Avenue.

Concert Time:  The concert will begin at 5 pm and run until approximately 6 pm.  There will be a festive reception after the concert.

Cost:  There will be a free will offering at the door and audience members are asked to make a contribution as they arrive for the concert.  All proceeds will benefit KEYS Music Programs.
