Why study Music?

Whether you believe that the study of music will help children academically or not, it is our indisputable experience that the one-on-one music instruction by qualified KEYS teachers has helped KEYS students to perform, to focus, and to find the joy in music.

“Music instruction helps kids with goal planning and achievement, developing the courage to face difficulties and perseverance. Self esteem and maturity grow as a result of all these skills. I have seen this on a daily basis, first hand.”

-Rob Silvan, Founder, KEYS

Many studies conducted by a broad range of institutions and organizations have evaluated the benefits of music instruction on the development of children. Their conclusions extol the positive effects of music on children, from increased SAT scores and reduced truancy to better life and cognitive skills. A series of studies from the field of developmental neurobiology indicate that music neurologically improves spatial reasoning and other cognitive tasks important in mathematics and related higher ordered thinking processes.
